Before you send a message

I read every message that comes through this form personally. Most messages fall into one of a few categories — here's how I usually handle each one, so you know what to expect.

Why I built a contact form instead of just an email address

A structured form makes it easier for me to triage what's coming in — bug reports, feature requests, and general questions all get handled differently, and a form nudges people toward including the details I actually need (which calculator, what numbers, what went wrong) rather than a one-line email that takes three more messages back and forth to clarify. If you'd rather not use the form for any reason, that's fine too — just include as much detail as you can.

Found a calculation error

This is the most useful kind of message I get. If a number looks wrong, tell me which calculator, what you entered, and what you expected versus what you got. I check every reported error against the official CRA, CMHC, or ESDC source and fix it within a few days if it's wrong. Several calculators on this site — the maternity leave tool and the rent vs buy tool especially — were improved because someone took the time to point out a gap.

Requesting a new calculator

I've built most of the 42 calculators on this site because someone asked for them. If there's a Canadian financial calculation you can't find anywhere — or every version you've found gets the math wrong — let me know. I can't promise a timeline, but I do read and consider every request.

Asking for personalized financial advice

I'm not a financial advisor, mortgage broker, accountant, or immigration consultant, and this contact form isn't a substitute for one. I can help with bugs and calculator accuracy, but I can't tell you whether you personally should buy a house, which mortgage type to choose, or how to structure your finances. For that, a licensed professional who knows your full situation is the right call.

Response time

I typically respond within 2–3 business days. This is a side project, not a full-time support desk, so please be patient — especially with bug reports, which I genuinely do work through.

What I can't help with

I don't have access to your CRA account, your bank, or any government system — I can't check the status of a specific benefit application, look up your actual CPP contributions, or tell you why a real payment you received differs from a number the calculator showed. The calculators here are estimation tools built from public formulas; for anything tied to your actual file with CRA, Service Canada, or IRCC, those agencies are the only ones who can pull up your real records.

Privacy

Whatever you type into this form goes to me directly through Formspree and isn't stored anywhere else, sold, or used for anything beyond replying to you. You don't need to create an account or give any personal details beyond what's needed to have a conversation — a name and a way to reply works fine.
